1 March 2027
Monday. First of March. The day the calendar’s had circled since last year: two plots on Collins Street, booked to start taking pairs tonight.
Rang the Melbourne end to see how they were going. Got put through, somehow, to a speaker, and a voice I know only too well said “hellooo, is that the groundskeeper? We’re NEIGHBOURS now!” Turns out the intercom fellow has been on Collins Street since October. He said he’s looking forward to meeting my pairs. I said they’re not mine. He said they will be his.
Also heard there’s a lot of noise down the corridor over there, somebody being stitched back together, opening the same day. The gentleman in the top hat is said to be very put out about sharing the date. I’d have thought a man who buries people would be used to company.
No news yet about the plots themselves. I expect they’ll be dug up by morning. They always are.
Tally (Northbridge): plots disturbed, two. Tally (Melbourne): to follow. Tuppence stayed home. I won.
